Book Projects
Dear Parents,
Each quarter your student will be expected to complete an independent book project. Each project will consist of two parts.
Part 1 will be a completed story map over a book they have read this year. It should be a fiction book at their reading level. Your child can ask us if they are unsure about this. Please avoid any graphic novels. This includes Captain Underpants. There is a completed story map over a book that was read to them as well as a blank story map for them to use.
Part 2 will be a book project to go along with the story map. This quarter students may choose from a poster, diorama, or a mobile.
Movie Poster: Draw a creative movie poster with a scene from your book. Do not use a picture from the book or the book cover. Be sure to put the book title and author on your poster.
Diorama: Use a shoebox or other small box to create a scene from your book. Be sure to include a background to show the details.
Mobile: Construct a mobile that shows the main points from the story including main characters, setting, the problem/solution of the story, or the key events.
The project must be quality fourth grade work and show that you understood what you have read. It must be neatly written and neatly colored or constructed. We expect details and your best effort on these projects. You need to plan ahead to give yourself plenty of time to have the book read and your project completed by the due date which will be October 25 .
Have fun with your project!
